It is high time for you to actually start writing your essay, but you are overwhelmed by the amount of information and do not know what to start with? Then MyAdmissionsEssay.com is a valuable tool to show you the right direction and assist you in approaching the topic of your choice.

One of the best strategies to deal with the problem may be finding a reliable website in order to get the feeling of what it is like to write successful admissions essay by viewing well-written samples. And this is where you can find our website especially helpful.

Essay writing examples can provide you with ideas on how to approach the widest possible range of topics. They can really help you as:

You will be able to see how the successful applicants can meet the right balance of the emotions, feelings and personal details with the objective needs of explaining their motivation without turning the essay into a tear-jerking description of their personal drama.

Studying essay samples is a good way to develop you skills in text cohesion.

You will be able to see how the text is divided into paragraphs, each with its own topic sentence and supportive ideas.

You will see how the right level of “smoothness” is achieved through the use of linking words and expressions; how the key ideas are enriched and developed without becoming repetitive by means of the synonyms.

When you analyze essay writing examples, you can notice that many topics seem similar. However, if you are really interested in getting a place, do not leave your essay in one final variant and tailor it to each situation.

There is also a temptation many students experience – to find an admissions essay sample on the net, download it and hand in. It sounds nice and time saving, but never do it, as you are sure to lose more than you gain. The committee will surely identify the duplicate essays and all your hard test and preparation work will be ruined. It will be obvious to the committees and will indicate lack of persistence, diligence and desire to become a student of this very faculty.

Remember, free college admission essay examples are only reference materials. Consider them only as essay writing samples, study their structure and content and elaborate your writing strategies. Free sample essay writing may not always be relevant as for your life experience, but gives you a clear view of what must be done to succeed.

Describe the accomplishment which occurred in the past five years which you are the most proud of.

It was a usual first day: the students could not grasp the idea of the classes having started and the teachers were all anxious to meet new groups or to see the students from the previous year. Pleased with my relaxing time-table, I spent an utterly enjoyable morning drinking coffee and planning a class with the group of intermediate students, whom I had taught before and was looking forward to seeing them in the afternoon. Six boys and five girls, all in their late teens, cheerful, noisy, not very hard-working, and as all teenagers, very independent with a strong sense of personal space and a typical “we-do-not-need-any-preaching-teachers-to-stick-noses-in-our-life” attitude.

For our first class that term I had chosen a communicative activity aimed at fluency and focusing on the idea of the first experience. I had written a long list of “firsts” starting with the first trip abroad or the first childhood friend and finishing with quite personal “first kiss, first date, first craze” options, which I had very little hope to discuss successfully and had only included them for the sake of prolonging the list. My idea was to distribute the handouts, give time to choose three points and invite my students to share their reminiscences and ideas with a group, which would possibly lead to a discussion on the important components of a successful first class.

When I entered the room, my students seemed happy to see me and started chatting immediately, interrupting one another, asking questions about our course prospects and other details. Gradually, we proceeded with the activity and they seemed quite pleased with the idea. We started talking and then something absolutely wonderful happened.

One of the boys, the shyest and the least talkative, suddenly looked up at me and said that he would talk about his first kiss. At this point my mouth fell widely open. And I could not believe my ears. But Alex definitely meant it. He told the group about the day when he had taken his first girlfriend to the School Prom, how they had been dancing, and how he could remember the song Don’t Speak by No doubt and how enchanting the night had been, and how sweet and soft had been her lips. I listened to him and was afraid to destroy the mysterious spell that made my least talkative student speak so much on such a personal issue. There was no laughter, no jokes; they were all listening very carefully, sometimes smiling kindly and reassuringly.

Suddenly, it came as a revelation to me that that was one of the most important moments in my life. What happened proved that I was a good teacher who had managed to create the atmosphere of trust, respect and warm emotional climate. They trusted me and they trusted one another. When I returned to the staff room, I was overjoyed and told my colleagues immediately about the experience. But they did not seem to be impressed. Some smiled politely, but some said it was a trifle. I agreed that it was, but it was a trifle that mattered such an awful lot, that resulted in my desire to take a master degree program and pursue the career in teaching.

When three years ago I got my Bachelor’s degree in ELT, I was seen as potential high flier in the sphere of education. I was able to create efficient lesson plans, develop interesting teaching materials and listen carefully to my students. According to my professors, “I just need a bit of guidance to exploit my full potential”. I considered taking a Master’s degree program, but then took an option of starting a teaching career in Thailand, overwhelmed with the desire to experience a teaching process in a completely different cultural setting.

Three years have passed since that time. I have acquired a unique experience of teaching people of a completely different culture and mentality to convey their thought effectively by means of a foreign language. I have acquired absolute patience and have experienced strong professional determination. I have learned the hard way to live in a society, which resembles my own one like cheese and chalk. But here, three years later, I am still seen as a potential high flier. And something keeps telling me that it is high time for a new educational challenge.

Several years ago I considered a possibility of prolonging my academic experience as an activity which will deprive me of the hours of “real work”. I was completely full and could not feel that hunger for knowledge, which makes the educational process a must for you, when you study and know that you do it because inside of you there is a huge black hole longing for information and you only live, constantly providing this hole with new mental food to digest. However, as I went along my professional way, I soon realized that there was something which I had not acquired during my undergraduate program. What I was missing was the holistic approach to teaching, which makes it not a collection of separate methods (however successful and efficient they are), but an activity which you develop on a solid basis of a profound academic research.

Now I am ready for a new challenge of education and discovery. I am deeply interested in the interrelation and interconnection of the individual and national psychology and the way speakers of other languages learn English, and this makes me apply to the Master’s degree program here in this university, as this is exactly the place where I believe I will be able to carry out a research I dream about and maybe pursue further academic career with a PhD program. I hope that I will have a possibility to take my challenge and win this battle.

Every day we have a wide selection of choices. Some of them are rather challenging, while others not. Describe one of the most significant choices that you had to make, and discuss the consequences of your actions. In what way did your decision influence your life?

My most vivid childhood memory is the day when my parents took me, a four-year-old girl, to the Concert Hall. This was the first time I had seen a real symphonic orchestra playing Mozart. The moment I heard those mysterious sounds, I knew I was deeply in love with music, with the way the musicians tune in before they start playing, with the thin fingers caressing the piano and the strings of the guitar. I knew that in my life there was no choice.

My “life-long romance” with music lasted for a decade and then a disaster stroke. While snowboarding in winter, I clumsily fell over and broke both collar bones. The doctor who examined my X-rays looked compassionate; he might have even felt like that, but his words were cruel: “The fractures would heal in six weeks, but you will have to think about other career options, as you will hardly ever feel comfortable playing any musical instrument”. Suddenly, I faced a whole ocean of options and choices. Unfortunately, I did not want any.

But life continued and gradually I started paying attention to other activities people can do in life apart from playing a musical instrument. I really had to choose where to go. And strangely enough I chose something which had nothing to do with music (the only thought of being related to it not being able to play seemed a nightmare). I chose medicine. The fractures healed, as the doctor had predicted, and I was prescribed a course of rehabilitation gymnastics. The more I visited the doctor, the more clearly I saw my way to go. This was exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to help people keep their choices open and have possibilities to choose from the endless list of options without being limited by disabilities. I wanted to work every day to help kids like me recover from injuries and continue doing what is larger than life for them.

I spent my high school years working hard to obtain good academic results. I have succeeded in getting high scores in all the necessary standardized test. And I can confess that now I feel completely exhausted. But I feel determined to work much harder and strenuously to achieve my ambition and here I am, writing my admission essay led by my choice.

I agree that we may seem to have certain options to choose from. But the matter is that I firmly believe that mostly we do not choose, we fight our way against the destiny’s choice. But during the fight we sometimes reconsider our aims. However, I feel strongly that this time the choice of mine is something I will never reconsider.

Where do you see yourself in five years and how you believe your academic education will be relevant in the future?

When I was twelve, there was one spring morning in my life that totally changed my vision of the future. That morning was devoted to a school outing to an experimental solar power plant in Nebraska. Suddenly, something, which was supposed to be a bit of scientific bore, became a turning point, which shaped my vision of my future career and the professional goals.

Before that, I had been an ordinary kid, who, despite being a keen science fiction reader, did not care much about physics, energy problems of our planet, environmental pollution, fossil fuel deficit and power shortages, which influence the life of many people all over the world. However, after an hour and a half at the power plant among spent shining mirror-like battery panels and listening to a worker who was invited to tell us about the plant, I knew what I wanted to do in the future and what would be my life-time professional passion.

Science was my favorite school subject. However, I tried to do well in all the areas of knowledge, as I knew that a good physicist must also possess a deep knowledge of mathematics and solving energy issues require the knowledge of biology. My academic records prove that my school years have not been spent in vain. And now I am ready to work even harder in order to achieve the goals which I determined for myself a long time ago.

In five years time I see myself still studying, as I believe that my ambition for knowledge and academic recognition will probably require more than just a Bachelor’s degree. I hope to be able to show academic results high enough to pursue further academic career. However, I would like to apply for a degree program with a bigger emphasis on the practical hands-on research than on the theoretical basis. This will hopefully comprise a proper basis for my further employment in the sphere of energetics with the possibility to work in the sector of alternative energy sources, where I will try to perform successfully both as an educator and a researcher.

Our world today faces a serious problem of energy consumption and I firmly believe that my future profession will not only give me a chance to go in for my personal scientific interests, but it will also be of a certain use for the society and will help to solve a number of burning environmental issues. And I am ready to use all my mental potential and determination to prove that my ambitions are well-grounded.

Describe a person or event that has had a profound impact on you and the way you look at the world.

Influence is the most mysterious thing. We consciously tend to rebel against any influence on our personality, realizing perfectly well at the same time that it is almost inevitable. We are influenced by little kids when we go to primary school, as they involuntarily teach us to interact in the society. We are influenced greatly by our parents, when we strive for them to recognize us as adults. We are influenced by our school teachers, whether we like them or not.

My life in this respect was quite unusual, as in my younger years I was almost free from any influence and resembled much a tree fully uprooted. My family has been moving a lot around the world. My parents, both being dedicated medical professionals willing to pursue their career not only for money, but for certain beliefs, started their work with Medicins sans Frontiers when I was about three years old. I remember clearly that I hardly ever lived in one place longer than three months. As a result, I was absolutely independent from the influence of classmates and teachers; I could not probably care less than I did about the people who I was sure would disappear from my life very soon.

When I was fifteen, I finally stopped travelling and settled down with my grandfather, as it was time to think about my high school opportunities. And this was the first and the most amazing experience in my life, when the stone finally stopped rolling and started gathering some moss. This was the time when I had finally had a person to share my ideas with and to get support from, but it was also the first time when I had to force myself into a certain kind of a relationship, as I knew that I would stay there for not less than three years and so, suddenly, all the people around me were no longer the changing setting of my constant journey, but the individuals of blood, flesh, intellect and feelings, whom I had to take into account.

The period was far from being easy. Sometimes, I felt irritated, as the process of growing roots appeared to be rather painful with those subtle strings getting attached to your heart. From time to time, I felt scared and wanted to escape the reality. But my grandpa was always there for me, repeating reassuringly: “Discover yourself, be yourself and let other people get to know you”. And I let other people come into my life, made friends, liked and hated my school teachers, met my first boyfriend and learned to be influenced.

Now I am ready to start my journey again, this time coming to study in this university to become a psychologist, as I firmly decided to find out why people are so afraid of being influenced, but at the same time long for the influence. However, this time I have a lot to leave behind. And this is the first time in my life that I have not got the feeling that by opening one door, I actually close the other one.

Describe your personal experience that influenced your choice of career.

December 23, 2008, was supposed to be a usual lazy day when I did not feel like doing anything, but just concentrate on expecting the forthcoming Christmas holidays. I had just finished shopping for presents in a new shopping mall outside the city, and was driving home along the unusually empty road. It was getting dark. The weather was not exactly the one you could expect at that time in our climate. It was relatively warm with thick irritating moisture hanging in the air and making you feel soaked. I was humming the tune by Sting together with the CD player and thinking about a nice cup of tea I would have at home. Suddenly, I heard a loud banging sound, and my car totally lost control. Before I could understand what was going on, I felt a horrible pain and fainted.

When I gained my consciousness, I found myself in a hospital ward and realized how lucky I was, not remembering the details. It turned out that the accident had actually been nothing but a string of unlucky events. The road had been a bit too wet and muddy, the curve had been at a bit bigger angle than it was necessary to meet the requirements of my driving skills, and, last but not least, there had been a drain cover just in the middle of the road surface. “A sad construction mistake”, as it was described by a road police officer. When two months later I finally got home, my plans for a future degree in IT were totally destroyed, and a new idea was looming on the horizon. The career in civil engineering, which had never been considered before the accident, turned into a determination to make it a lifetime commitment.

The idea of a profession that would save lives has always been tempting to me, as it is pleasant to realize that apart from earning for your living, you can also do good to the society. However, the career I am focused on pursuing now seems to be a much more interesting way to go: first, this is a sphere of human activity that is tightly connected with the creative process; second, the process of designing and building public facilities can make a huge difference in the way the next generation lives in our country. If we use environmentally friendly technologies, elaborate the landscape integrated designs and avoid “sad construction mistakes ”, we will create a safe and beautiful surrounding for our children.

The degree I am striving for now is a possibility to unite people by building bridges and roads, entertaining them by designing sports and recreational facilities, saving lives by constructing hospitals that are convenient for the medical staff to help the patients. I realize perfectly well that such a branch of human knowledge requires a huge amount of hard mental work, but I am ready to spend four years working hard towards my dream, using all my skills and talents to the utmost and hope that the admission committee will grant me with this possibility.

Describe the main traits of character an exceptional manager must possess by analyzing someone whom you have observed or with whom you have cooperated. Illustrate how his or her management style has changed your vision of a leader.

The sphere of education is often perceived as a branch of business which requires from a manager more knowledge of teaching methodology, than managerial or leadership skills. In reality, it is definitely not true, but many educational projects suffer a lot from this idea. My first experience was, however, exceptionally fortunate, as my first big project aimed at HR reorganization of two affiliate schools of the International House was supervised by Rob Dean. As my project manager, he demonstrated superb leadership, managerial and communication skills, which resulted in smooth and effective realization of the project and later contributed to my determination to acquire similar professional skills.

First, the core of Rob’s leadership skills is courage, dedication and ability to persuade. These features shape his unique ability to persuade people and reduce the level of anxiety, which is of utmost importance, as HR projects are often not accepted by the staff members, who are afraid that any reorganization can make them redundant. However, even working with such groups, Rob manages to communicate his ideas clearly and reach a consensus as well as create a shared vision which unites the team members.

Second, Rob possesses a valuable ability to set clear goals and delegate effectively. It definitely helps his coworkers to perceive their own value as a part of the project and to see the actions which they must perform. The way he defines the task makes it both challenging and creative, so the employees feel both interested and rewarded, trying to achieve the needed result. In addition, he supervises the projects properly, without putting his team members under stress of too much influence, but never leaving the project unattended and having no superior to address and ask for clarification.

Finally, Rob has a unique talent of an efficient communicator, who is able to give the necessary feedback without making the negative comments sound reproachful, but merely as constructive criticism. This valuable feature is essential for the ability to provide a clear objective and build up the feeling of self-respect and trust in other team members.

My experience of working with Rob was a unique opportunity and learning experience, which taught me important lesson and provided me with valuable tools for HR managerial activities. This experience I further managed to implement in a number of educational projects aimed at restructuring of different departments. I learned that communication, trust and proper level of supervision are essential to set the goals, work out an action plan of how to reach them step-by-step, inspire your team members with your plan and make them go together with you towards the same aim, controlling when necessary, but mostly evoking enthusiasm and creativity.

Describe one nonprofessional activity that you find inspirational.

About five years ago I suddenly found myself in the middle of a deep financial crisis. I had worked as an investment project manager for three years by that time and was both emotionally and physically exhausted by the ongoing projects. I had a feeling that my job turned into an endless string of tasks to deal with and little results to achieve, but I could not get the satisfaction from my successful completion of tasks anymore. This was the time when I decided that I would have to find an inspirational activity outside the range of my professional interests.

My summer holiday was looming on the horizon and I was persuaded by two friends of mine to join them in their tour to the mountains with the opportunity to experience white-water rafting. And two weeks later there was I in a life jacket and a helmet, listening to the instructor carefully. The rush of adrenaline, the nerves and the fear of failure, the taste of victory were magnificent. We went down a narrow, absolutely wild mountain river and managed to preserve the balance of the raft, reaching our destination successfully. I felt such a sense of achievement that I thought I had lost the ability to feel a long time before.

When I was sitting with my friends by the fire that evening, I suddenly realized that this rafting-experience was a perfect allegory of my business activities. In my work, I was subconsciously afraid of difficulties and have been choosing only the safe and still water to go. The white water of investing into less popular branches of our fast changing economy seemed too dangerous. The still water floating was certainly effective, as by taking no risks I usually lost nothing, but was there enough to gain? On the other hand, the example of our rafting instructor proved that with a clear guidance and a unified vision, even the most unprofessional people can work as a successful team, especially if they are given the possibility to feel the adrenaline and the taste of victory.

This experience changed my management style completely. I developed an ability to make decisions fast and became less risk-cautious without becoming totally reckless. I still go rafting at least three time a year and sometimes use the opportunity to take my project team with me to give them the feeling of being united by the necessity and determination to conquer the unconquerable.

Describe the picture of ideal world as you imagine it.

I am a person who deeply loves the world. I am sincerely passionate about the kind and considerate people who live on our beautiful green planet, about the rich society, the successful economy, the clean and unpolluted environment, and equal opportunities for everyone. Unfortunately, the world I love so much is not the world we live in.

Since my early childhood, I have been interested in the unexplainable phenomenon of the human society: why, being provided with all the necessary resources and possibilities for the sustainable development of the harmonious society, we still waste the opportunities and have wars instead of peace, discrimination instead of recognition, weapon construction instead of alternative energy solutions. These questions are still significant for me and that is why my current ambition is to continue my education in the sphere of social and political studies in this university.

The history of this long-established school provided an important life and academic basis for many distinguished and influential members of our society. The wide range of programs on offer and the leading academicians, who have created an inspiring learning atmosphere, make this university the place where I dream to continue my studies. I realize perfectly well that by completing my degree successfully I will not be able to solve any global issues, as I am certainly a dreamer, but I am also realist. However, I also feel that my degree will equip me with the necessary tools to pursue the realization of my idea.

I have not developed a clear plan of “changing the world” yet, but I feel that what can become my personal commitment might be the role of an educator with a further emphasis on the academic and teaching career. I believe that education is a primary means of solving the key problems in a developmental, rather than revolutionary, way. Another possibility for me is the career in politics, which gives a wide scope of direct impact means, but is definitely less fruitful in terms of seeing immediate results.

Whatever way I will choose to go later, my first degree is my primary concern now. And I sincerely hope that I will be able to be an important asset for the university as well, as I am ready to bring all my determination, strength and passion for the world I love in the life of my university community.
